Iso Numero is a social enterprise that creates work opportunities for people who cannot find income elsewhere. Our goal is to support our sellers in earning money and learning new skills. We help people help themselves.
Since 2011 we have worked with over 1500 people. Collectively, our sellers have earned over 1.4 million euros. We have thousands of loyal readers and supporters around Finland who buy the magazine every month.
As a social enterprise, all our profits are put back in the company – to support our sellers, to publish the magazine and to ensure the long-term sustainability of our organization.
How it works
Iso Numero sellers are self-employed. They choose where and when to work.
Anyone can sell the magazine regardless of their nationality, language skills or residence permit status. Before their first shift, we give the seller a short training with sales tips and guidance. Every beginner gets free magazines, a photo ID and a vest. They can start selling immediately after the training.
After the free magazines, the seller buys magazines for five euros and sells them on the street for ten euros. There are also many ways to earn free magazines, which boosts a seller’s income. On average, a seller earns between 5-7 euros per magazine. It is up to the seller to decide how many hours they work. Some people sell only a few days a month. Others sell every day and all day long.
Having a personal sales location, keeping regular working hours and a friendly sales attitude make a big difference. We also teach every seller basic Finnish vocabulary – even a few Finnish words can do magic!
